To auto refresh Brave on a timer you need an extension, because Brave has no built-in auto refresh. Install Auto Refresh Page, a free Chrome, Edge and Firefox extension that also runs in Brave, from the Chrome Web Store. Open the page, click its icon, pick an interval like 5 Seconds or 5 Minutes, and click Save.
No. Brave reloads a page only when you click the reload button or press F5 or Ctrl+R (Cmd+R on Mac). No setting reloads a tab every few seconds or minutes.
Brave does reload tabs by itself in one case, and it isn't a timer. With Memory Saver on, Brave deactivates tabs you aren't using, and an inactive tab reloads when you go back to it, as the Brave Help Center explains.
Auto Refresh Page adds what Brave lacks: six presets, custom times, a countdown, stop rules, a Refresh List and, with Premium, keyword alerts.
You install the Chrome version of Auto Refresh Page, because Brave supports "nearly all extensions that are compatible with chromium."
In Brave, open the Auto Refresh Page listing in the Chrome Web Store, click Add to Brave, then Add extension. Brave's guide to adding extensions to Brave shows the same steps.
Click the Extensions icon (the puzzle piece) to the right of the address bar, then click the pin next to Auto Refresh Page.
Load the website in a normal Brave window. If the tab was open before you installed the extension, reload it once, or the popup shows "Please reload this page to start auto-refresh."
The popup opens on the Time Interval tab, with the tab's address in the URL box. To refresh every page on that site, tick Include sub-pages under Advanced Options.
Under Presets, choose 5 Seconds, 10 Seconds, 15 Seconds, 5 Minutes, 10 Minutes or 15 Minutes. For any other time, click + Custom Time and fill in Hours, Minutes and Seconds.
Under Advanced Options, Stop after [number] number of auto refresh ends the timer after that many reloads, and Refresh Behavior on User Interaction stops, pauses or restarts it when you click or type on the page.
Click Save. The popup shows "Auto refresh saved", the countdown starts, and the page is added to the Refresh List tab. The switch at the top of the popup should read Running.

The shortest interval is 1 second and the longest is 24 hours.
| To refresh every | Click |
|---|---|
| 5, 10 or 15 seconds | 5 Seconds, 10 Seconds or 15 Seconds |
| 30 seconds | + Custom Time, then 30 in Seconds |
| 1 minute | + Custom Time, then 1 in Minutes |
| 5, 10 or 15 minutes | 5 Minutes, 10 Minutes or 15 Minutes |
| 1 hour | + Custom Time, then 1 in Hours |
| A random time between two values | Random Interval, then + Random Time, with Minimum and Maximum in seconds (Premium) |
Each reload is a new request to the site, and some sites block visitors who reload every few seconds, so use the longest interval that works. More on custom refresh intervals.
To stop every page at once, click Running at the top of the popup so it reads Paused. To stop one page, pause or delete it in the Refresh List tab.
brave://extensions and switch Auto Refresh Page off, or click Remove.Usually the page is one Brave blocks, the switch reads Paused, or you're in a private window.
Extensions can't run on the Chrome Web Store or on Brave's own pages, such as brave://settings and the New Tab page. The message names the Chrome Web Store because Brave uses the Chrome version of the extension. Open a website that starts with http:// or https:// instead.
The tab was open before the extension was installed or updated. Reload it once, then click Save again.
The main switch is off. Click Paused at the top of the popup so it reads Running.
Brave turns extensions off in private windows. Open brave://extensions, click Details under Auto Refresh Page and turn on Allow in Private (see Brave's guide to extensions in private windows).
That's Memory Saver, not Auto Refresh Page, which asks Brave not to discard a tab while its timer runs. For other tabs, go to Settings → System → Performance and turn off Memory Saver, or add the site under Always keep these sites active.
Stop after or Refresh Behavior on User Interaction may be ending the timer. Step-by-step fix: auto refresh stops after one cycle.
No, not with an extension. Brave on Android and iPhone doesn't run extensions, so Auto Refresh Page works only in Brave on Windows, macOS and Linux. Brave has started building Android extension support behind an experimental flag (Brave GitHub issue #59354), but as of November 2026 it isn't in the regular app.
Brave can't reload a page on a timer by itself, but Auto Refresh Page fills the gap: open the page, choose an interval and click Save. For keyword alerts, auto-click and more, browse the Auto Refresh Page features.
No. Brave reloads a page only when you click reload or press F5 or Ctrl+R (Cmd+R on Mac). The only automatic reload comes from Memory Saver, which reloads an inactive tab when you return to it. To refresh on a timer, install an extension such as Auto Refresh Page.
Install Auto Refresh Page from the Chrome Web Store, open the page, click the extension icon, choose 5 Seconds under Presets and click Save. For other times, click + Custom Time and enter hours, minutes or seconds. The shortest interval is 1 second and the longest is 24 hours.
To stop every page, click Running at the top of the Auto Refresh Page popup so it reads Paused. To stop one page, pause or delete it in the Refresh List tab, or press the hotkey (default Control + d) on that tab. You can also switch the extension off at brave://extensions.
Yes. Brave is built on Chromium and installs extensions from the Chrome Web Store, where the button reads Add to Brave. Auto Refresh Page works in Brave on Windows, macOS and Linux. Its messages mention the Chrome Web Store because Brave runs the Chrome version.
Brave turns extensions off in private windows. Open brave://extensions, click Details under Auto Refresh Page and turn on Allow in Private. The extension then runs in private windows as well.
Not with an extension. As of November 2026, Brave on Android and iPhone doesn't run extensions, so Auto Refresh Page works only in Brave on a computer. Brave is building Android extension support behind an experimental flag, but it isn't in the regular app yet.
