Detect Keyword Feature: How to Monitor Any Web Page for Specific Words Automatically

Detect Keyword Feature

Refreshing a page is only half the job — the other half is noticing when something on it changes. Reading every reload yourself defeats the purpose of automating the refresh.

The Detect Keyword feature scans the page after every refresh for the words you care about. The moment your keyword appears (or disappears), Auto Refresh can notify you, play a sound, auto-click the match, or stop refreshing — automatically.

How to use Detect Keyword

  1. Open the Auto Refresh popup and click the Detect Keyword tab.
  2. Enter one or more keywords or phrases to watch for.
  3. Pick when to act: when the keyword is found, or when it is not found.
  4. Choose what happens on a match — notify, play sound, auto-click, continue or stop refreshing.
  5. Click Save. Every refresh is now scanned for your keywords.

What you can do on a match

  • Notify the user with a desktop notification the instant a keyword is detected.
  • Play a sound (default or your own imported sound) on detection.
  • Auto-click the detected keyword's link, or a specific element by selector.
  • Continue refreshing for ongoing monitoring, or stop refreshing once found.
  • Review past hits under History of Detected Keyword.
  • Detect Keyword is a Premium feature.

What you can monitor with Detect Keyword

Because Detect Keyword scans the actual text of the page after each reload, it works on almost anything that updates: stock and availability labels, prices, order and shipment statuses, queue positions, sports scores, ticket availability, and error messages in dashboards or logs. If the change shows up as words on the page, the extension can watch for it.

You can also watch more than one keyword at once and decide what each detection should do. Pair it with notifications to stay informed, sound for hands-free alerts, auto-click to act instantly, and Continue Refreshing to keep monitoring after the first hit — combining them into a workflow that fits the page you are watching.

Tips for accurate keyword detection

Detection is only as good as the keyword you choose. A word that appears all over the page — or that is part of the site's normal layout — will trigger constantly, so pick text that is unique to the state you are watching for, such as a specific status label or button text. Phrases are usually more reliable than single common words.

Decide up front whether you want to know when text appears or when it disappears, and set the found / not-found mode to match. From there, layer on only the actions you need: a quiet notification for casual monitoring, or sound plus auto-click when you need to act the instant something changes.

Detect Keyword turns Auto Refresh from a simple reloader into a page monitor that watches for you. Tell it what to look for once, and let it handle the watching, the alerting, and even the clicking.
