Show the Auto Refresh Timer Directly on the Tab

Auto Refresh Timer on the Tab

By default, Auto Refresh runs quietly in the background — the countdown only lives inside the extension popup. If you would rather see the timer right on the page you are refreshing, there is a single Advance Option that turns on an on-tab countdown overlay.

Once enabled, every refreshing tab gets a small floating timer so you can monitor the countdown without re-opening the popup, even while you switch between tabs or windows.

How to show the timer on the tab

  1. Click the Auto Refresh icon in the browser toolbar to open the popup.
  2. Scroll to the Advance Options panel.
  3. Check "Show visual timer on the webpage".
  4. Click the Save button at the bottom of the popup.
  5. Start (or restart) Auto Refresh on the tab — the on-page countdown will appear immediately.

Tips

  • You can drag the on-page timer anywhere on the screen to keep it out of the way of important content.
  • To make Auto Refresh remember where you placed it, also enable "Remember the auto-refresh timer position" — the sub-option that appears right under the visual-timer checkbox.
  • If the timer ever ends up in an unreachable spot, uncheck "Remember the auto-refresh timer position" to reset it to the default location.
